Souvenirs for your special-someone

Organic ashtrays from Brittany.

It’s not easy to go surfing when you live in Paris, 400km from the ocean.
Sometimes the swell is there during the week and you have to go to work. Sometimes the swell is there on weekends but you can’t miss your friends’ wedding in Alsace so you leave Paris going in the wrong direction.
Sometimes you drank a little too much in the middle of the week and after two nights coming home smelling like bad wine, you promised your girlfriend you’d spend the weekend with her. Yet the swell is here and once again your friends will be in the water without you.

If you still want to go surfing without having to re-download Tinder and look for a new place when you get back, we can help you find a little souvenir for your beloved one.
The trick is to find something typical, local and caring to make up for your absence. Don’t forget that if you offer her a fur coat or a 2000€ diamond, she’ll think you’re cheating on her. You won’t have a dime left, but plenty of time to surf.

• The shell: simple, free, you look like a lover.

• The rug at the souk: you got ripped off and she doesn’t like it.

• The ethnic necklace: if your girlfriend plays with bolass.

• The knockoff Chanel bag: if your girlfriend is a clubber and wears shiny white high-heels.

• The plant pulled out on a roundabout. Take the roots, hopefully it will flower several times.

• Local alcohol: to make the box spring squeak during your reunion.

PS: My wife also tells me that she loves it when I bring her plants pulled up on the beach, kuign-amans from Brittany (we keep them in the freezer and never eat them), and ceramic from local artists.
Pâté basque is cool too but she’s vegetarian.

Can’t remember where it’s from.
Brought that back from Costa Mesa, California.
